Becoming A Dad For The First Time

baby playI have recently become a father and I could not be more happy because of it. I can’t believe that it has finally happened for me. I have a very sweet girlfriend whom I never married (because marriage is just not for us) and we just had a baby of our very own. We have lived together in the same apartment for many years already. Back in the days when we were still young, we had lots of troubles finding a stable way of life for ourselves. The road has never been smooth, but we have always found a way to make it work. A long time ago, when I was just getting started with a job, I was not making a lot of money yet. Most newbies don’t make a lot of money. And rightfully so, because back then I was not very good at my job at all. These days, however, I am a very experienced software developed and I have many software projects under my belt already. I can honestly say that I love this job and I would not trade it in for anything in the world. Developing software is great because you are actually building something. And there is nothing better than building something from nothing. I have a lot of experience with it now and I have learned so much in just the past few years. I am much better than I ever thought possible.

Check out http://babygotstuff.com for a whole bunch more info on babies.

baby play toysInstead of slaving away for minimum wages, I have chosen to go freelance. Because regular jobs with their 9 to 5 days are just not for me. Freelancing is endlessly better because you have a lot more free time on your hands than when you are stuck in the cubicle life. But you can only have a sense of freedom if you manage to get happy customers that will order more software from you in the future. Repeat business is very important for a steady income stream. But thankfully, I have met many people in my years of working as a software developer and I have been able to add many prospects to my list. I was preparing even back then. I always knew that one day I would be freelance. If you are a software developer, then you owe it to yourself to become the best you can be. Because this allows you to go freelance. And freelancing is so much more awesome than regular wage slavery. I would not want to work for the man all year around anymore, because then I would totally miss out on seeing my baby grow up. I love my new lifestyle and I highly recommend it to everybody on the planet. But don’t just go freelance without a plan, because if you fail to plan, then you are actually planning to fail. A freelancer must be able to hack it all pretty much on his own. You’re not allowed to ask other people questions anymore. You have to do everything yourself.

baby makes messMy girlfriend is called Jodie and she also generates a nice revenue stream from her business as well. She does something with human resources, a branch of business that I have never understood and never will. Right now she is taking some time off what with her just having had the baby and whatnot. We had our baby just a few days ago, actually. And me and Jodie are totally happy to finally have a kid of our own, after having seen our friends having kids of their own. We are losing a lot of time on making food for the baby, however. So we are considering buying the best baby food maker for the money. We have been reading up on this page about which one to buy.

This is exactly the life that I have always imagined for myself as well as my sweet girlfriend. I am now the proud owner of a great family that I love sincerely. Words escape me when I try to explain you what I was feeling when my first baby came into this world. It was truly a sight for sore eyes. I held him closely and never wanted to let go of him in my entire life. I don’t mean to brag, but this is one good looking kid right here. You can totally see that this is a chip off the ole’ block, he he.

baby funWhen you first become a dad (or a mom, I imagine), then a lot of things are going to go through you. It can be quite overwhelming at first. It can be overwhelming to the point where it feels like you are going to lose your sanity. I had big worries as to whether everything would turn out okay, because this is your kid you’re talking about and you want to see him doing perfectly! Thank god… everything went okay and there were no significant troubles to speak of. It’s always nice when something goes exactly according to plan. Me and Jodie are now the proud parents of a healthy baby girl, called Cindy. Oh boy, I can not explain to you in mere words how much relief I felt when this kid came out perfectly alright and healthy! An old friend of mine once had a baby years ago who was missing a toe on the left foot. And then there was another friend that I had a long time ago, who had an extra toe on the right foot. I imagine that either scenario is a bit distressing, but it is always better to have some extra stuff on there rather than missing stuff. Extra stuff can be easily removed by a skilled surgeon. But when your baby is missing out on things, then you’re just going to have to live with the birth defect as it is. So that’s the reason why I was so worried about my baby. But I’m so glad everything turned out alright. It was a real suspense.

Now that we have a healthy baby girl named Cindy, we have to make sure to take good care of her. I want to see her growing up to be a healthy baby girl. We intend to feed her all the best nutrients and we want to buy her the best crib so that she can have a good night’s rest. She is the most precious prized gift I have ever received and probably ever will! Time to go shopping for baby stuff!

New Rules Of Lifting – Kindle Review

new rules of liftingI have recently read the Kindle book New Rules Of Listing. I thought it was pretty good, and I want to review it.

Most people living in the USA, and this includes myself, like making use of a little something extra when training. If you have ever visited your local gym, then you will probably know that lifting weights can put quite a strain on your body. More often than not, it can take you a few days to recover from one simple training session. And the worst part is, your recovery gets worse when you get older. Going to the gym is a good way of staying in shape, but there is nothing you can do about the fact that you will eventually age. But we are not completely helpless against mother nature’s aging process.

Not too long ago, I came across a website called the Bulk Board (which you can find at http://bulkboard.net), which seems to have quite a bit of knowledge on the subject. There’s a big page on that website that covers the topic of increasing testosterone levels in guys, but there is also plenty of other information on there about supplements. You should really have a look at this website’s testosterone booster page, as well as their Testofuel review page.

heavyThis website may not be suitable for everybody, but one thing is for sure… it can definitely help you make a few well informed decisions about buying supplements for doing heavy weight lifting. These pages are mostly geared at guys in the mid fourties and over, but it can’t hurt to inform yourself properly up front, even when you haven’t lived to this age yet. After all, you know it’s coming… you know you’re going to get older and that you will one day have more of a hard time lifting weights.

But then again… what choice do you really have… are you going to let it all happen and just get out of shape? You need to getting in gear and start lifting some iron. If you’ve got kids, then you better start raising them with the mindset that nothing is for free and that they will have to have physical exercise if they want the most out of life. Growing up, I was a fat guy. I clearly remember all the kids from school making fun of me like I was some sort of sub human species. I can’t believe my own mother kept feeding me all sorts of junk food at the time, and in retrospect I sure wish she had fed me more vegetables, even though I was a difficult vegetable eater.

dumbbellYou can not underestimate the importance of getting enough exercise in your life. You can’t expect to stay in shape by talking walks and nothing else. Unless ofcourse, you are morbidly obese… in that case every bit of exercise is going to do you good. I first joined a gym when I was in my early twenties. By that time, I was completely fed up with my own fat gut and the mindset that facilitated it. It sure took some balls to enter a gym for the first time, as a fat man. But in the end, it was totally worth it.

The gym I went too all those years ago, had some really nice people. They weren’t judgemental at all and a few of them even helped me out and supported me to achieve my best. Had it not been for those guys, I could very well still be obese. During my first year of working out, I lost the biggest amount of my body fat. I remember being put through all sorts of cardio tests by a guy who coached me. All throughout my first year, he kept monitoring my performance and he gave me pointers about where to go next. I’m pretty sure that, if it wasn’t for him, I’d still have a shed load of weight on my belly.

muscleThanks to the guy that coached me, I managed to drop most of my weight in the first year. And now that I’ve got children of my own, I need to coach those myself. I also want to stay in shape long enough that I can live to watch my children grow up and become fit adults, like daddy!

I can’t imagine having to miss out on my kids growing up… it would break my heart for sure. I am not pretty healthy and optimistic about the future of my physical well being. My parents may have made the mistake of feeding me with too many sugar treats, but I won’t make that mistake with my own children.

I’m sure my parents had all the best intentions for me. They probably could not help it… because they were fat as well. Unfortunately, my parents developed a slew of obesity related problems in their sixties, and they both died from heart attacks. All it took was one heart attack and that was it. Just like that. I needed a few years to get over this.

liftingExercise is really good for you… but it’s not all there is to it. But your diet matters too. If you don’t have a healthy diet to complement a training regimen, then you are missing out. You have to eat healthy and work out on a consistent basis, or no results for you. Also, you can’t make up for a year of missed exercise, by training really hard in the last month of the year. The only way to get permanent health benefits from exercise, is by making it a lifestyle habit. And the same goes for your diet.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle is probably the most important thing you will ever do in your entire life. Get good foods in your diet and keep them there for as long as you live. For fat people that like to eat lots of goodies, it can be scary to switch to a health diet. They are afraid that they won’t feel as content as they would on all their favorite junk foods such as cheese burgers and whatnot. I had this exact same fear many years ago when I was still a sedentary sack of potatoes.

But I researched some healthy dishes. And it turns out there are plenty of ways to eat healthy and tasty at the same time. Healthy dishes is all I have now. I eat healthy every week of my life. My kids love it too. I’ve never regretted my decision to lift weights, eat healthy and raise my kids the same way. We’re a happy, healthy family!

SAS Survival Handbook – Kindle Review

sas survival handbookI have recently read the SAS Survival Handbook by John Lofty. It’s a Kindle book and it’s available on Amazon for a very acceptable price. It was published in 2011 and has since gone on to become one of the most well reviewed Kindle books. The reason I was interested in this particular book, is because I’ve been thinking about taking up a new outdoor hobby to keep myself busy. I spend entirely too much time inside, cooped up in my room, writing and reading behind my computer. I get dry eyes from spending so much time behind my monitor sometimes. So I’m sure you can imagine I’d like to get out some time.

This book has been updated throughout the years. The copy you will receive when you buy it, is the one that is the most up to date. John ‘Lofty’ Wiseman is an ex SAS survival expert. The acronym SAS means Special Air Service. This is a British military regiment. These guys are known to be tough guys and they are considered a role model for the whole world. Ever since their creation in 1950, the have been making a name for themselves. All countries in the world aim to have some sort of ‘special force’ that rivals the SAS.

John Wiseman has served in the SAS for a whopping 26 years. He has taken the time to write down his knowledge and insights in this handy dandy survival book. All of this experience, his skills and his knowledge are contained in this book. Even the most experienced outdoor survivalist is bound to learn a thing or two from this book. This book will teach you timeless techniques for making it on your own, should you ever end up in a dense forest or an uninhabited island. You’ll be prepared for anything, no matter where you go.

Survivaling & Other Kinds Of Wilderness Activities

who dares winsNot that I am planning on ending myself up in a place where I could likely get killed. I am, however, planning on taking a few hiking trips come next spring. The Boot Bomb inspired me to do so. This is many months away at the time of writing. So for that reason I’m currently preparing myself by reading this book. I’ve learned much from it. I think there are plenty of things in here that I will be able to put to good use when I am going on my first hike. I don’t expect to ever get in any mortal danger. But still… hiking is a sport where you are pretty much all on your own.

The book is very complete in that it covers all the sorts of things that you need to keep into account when you are trying to survive. He lays out the following stuff in detail:

  • Survival kit contents.
  • Navigation technologies and strategies.
  • How to manage your health in glaring sun, freezing snow, on land and on water.
  • How to survive a disaster, such as quickly spreading fire.
  • How to manage your emotions, such as fear.

sasYou wouldn’t think you’d needed all this stuff just by thinking about a survival situation superficially. But John Wiseman has been there. He knows how harsh mother nature can be. His complete list of things you need truly is a list of things that you really do need, lest you run the risk of not surviving your survival situation. For a hike such as the one that I’m going to undertake at some point in the future, I’ll definitely need more than just a pair of high quality hiking boots as well. Good footwear is going to save the day. But it’s not the only thing you’re going to need in order to get by. Just because trailing isn’t as dangerous as survivaling, it doesn’t mean you can get away with not preparing yourself well. This is especially true if you just so happen to posess any weak spots. In my case… I am suffering from heel spur. So I will need to get plantar fasciitis hiking boots. This is one condition you’ll definitely want to manage. If it gets worse… you’re a long way from home.

How To Apply SAS Survival Strategies

Despite the fact that I will never be trapped behind enemy lines, I greatly enjoyed reading John’s book. He teaches you to look for, kill, prepare and eat small mammals. It’s something I hope I never have to do. But let’s say that I ever find myself in such a situation… rest assured that I know how to find my way around the bush. I feel all the wiser for having read this book. Much of the knowledge John imparts will never have to be applied in the average person’s life. But it’s still nice to know.

survivalOn Amazon, there are plenty of other people like me who have gone hiking, or are intending to. And they’ve read this book for the same reasons that I have. They want to be well prepared. Whether you are a camper, a hiker or any other type of wilderness afficionado, this easy to read book is going to teach you a thing or two you’d never learn all on your own. Not even in a million years. This book even has color plates for making it easy to identify plants. Being able to distinguish the edible plants from the poisonous ones is an essential skill if you intend to survive for more than a few days. Don’t act surprised. I mentioned before that these SAS guys are a force to be reckoned with. Some of them have actually had to resort to eating plants in survival situations, and John Wiseman is one of them.

Not only is John speaking from experience. He has become the surival instructor with the SAS. He’s been teaching this stuff to SAS rookies. And now he has compiled all his wisdom into this very approachable, easy to digest Kindle book. This book is the culmination of the 26 years of experience that John Wiseman has had with survivaling. All this precious knowledge is now available to normal people such as you and me at the cost for a few lousy dollars.

I’m sure you won’t be surprised when I tell you that I highly recommend this book to anybody who is even remotely interested in survivaling!

Become A Kindle Book Writing Champ In No Time!

kindle1With the advent of the Internet, more and more things have become democratized. Only 20 years ago, you’d have to be a rich artist in order to be able to afford your own mixing studio. These days, everybody has access to the software required to mix all the sounds you can get. It’s the same with books. Publishing books used to be a very expensive and risky venture. But thanks to the World Wide Web… not anymore! Anybody can now publish books online, for pennies on the dime. That rhymed! So how good I am at writing? I’m not talking out of my rear here. I know what I’m doing.

Many people want to write Kindle books for publishing on Amazon. Many people are already doing it, because they jumped onboard the Kindle express many years ago already. Because many people can now cheaply publish books without much risk, there is also a lot of sub par stuff to be found on Kindle. But there’s two sides to every coin, and that’s just how it is. However, just because other people are publishing low quality stuff, this does not mean you have to do so as well. Feel free to publish high quality stuff all you like. Just make the effort of ensuring that your stuff is indeed ‘high quality’ and not low quality that you’ve happened to fall in love with, just because it’s yours!

kindle2So much for my introduction. Let’s get to the gist of this post. The thing is, you can really a good living by writing Kindle books. It’s not going to be easy. But what were you expecting? There is big competition on there. There is always room for more good stuff. Write good stuff, and the fan base will come. But you’ve got to take a good, hard look at your own writing skills. You have to be critical. If you feel your writing skills are not on par, then go out there and practice your writing skills. There are plenty of forums where people write stuff and read other people’s written stuff. And then they comment on it. It’s all constructive criticism, ofcourse.

Your best chances of making a decent earning as an honest to god writer and publisher, are if you write a book series. I would like to emphasyze ‘series’ here. There’s something about a series that keeps people coming back for more. Look at A Song Of Fire And Ice. Look at Harry Potter. Look at Lord Of The Rings. All these series are more awesome than any standalone book ever was. So always go for series. You can make your story as epic as you possibly can and you can extend it over a long period of time. If you manage to develop a loyal reader base, your fans are going to love it and they will keep begging you for more and more and more.

fastfingersFor Kindle books, it’s very important that you have a really well structured book with a good index. People tend to dislike disorganized books in which things are hard to find. So it’s not just your writing skills that you ought to be constantly improving. It’s also your Kindle creation and publishing skills. Take my word for it. I’ve published some stuff on Kindle that I’m kind of ashamed of right now. That’s why I took it offline and I’m never putting it back either.

If you are not comfortable writing yourself, you can always go for a ghost writer. This is just a writer that will write your book for you, in return for financial compensation. But quite frankly… I feel there is nothing like writing your own book. Writing is a great pastime. It’s almost a zen like experience. It’s easy for me to say, because my typing speed is very fast. Some people type slowly and that’s why they don’t like typing. Typing is more fun when you are doing it fast. So if your typing speed is slowing you down, by all means… go practice it at Fast Fingers!
